In a new development, China will include “Xi Jinping Thought” in its national curriculum to assist “build Marxist belief” among the country’s youth, according to new rules released on Tuesday by the education ministry.

Citing the importance of the Chinese president Xi Jinping’s “thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era”, Ministry of education stated that it would be taught from primary schools level all the way to the university.

This move is to strengthen the party ideology and “cultivate patriotic impulses” and “resolve to listen to and follow the Party.” Ever since, Xi Jinping became president, he tried to incorporate the party’s role in all areas of society, schools and cultural institution.

In 2018, the country’s constitution was legally codified in “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.” The removal of presidential term limits has also bolstered Xi’s personal influence.
